The coronavirus is currently booming, but its sudden popularity is actually really hurting our beloved film industry, with film releases and productions being delayed. Essentially its put the entire industry behind a month or so.
The first article we looked at was this:
https://www.odt.co.nz/news/dunedin/17m-film-studio-cards
This $17.7 Million production studio could open a lot of opportunities in Dunedin and Southland, I didn't know this but the article mentions Jane Campion's new film "The Power of the Dog" which filmed in Dunedin recently. Which is ridiculous, on a movie like that we should all get some cable wrangling gig or another. The movie features Benedict Cumberbatch and Kirsten Dunst, which is also outrageous because the fact that this knowledge didn't reach my ears at the time means I missed an opportunity to get my ins with Kirsten Dunst.
The article mentions the range of different locations that we have access to down here and I very much agree that there is a crazy amount of variation in terms of scenery in Southland and Otago. I think just the weather is a pain.
I am looking forward to this, many more productions will be brought close to where we reside and it's good for tourism and such.
Wonderful.

So I just found out that Shortland Street has been severely affected by Corona, with them cutting back to three episodes a week rather than the usual five because they were not able to film before lockdown 3!

I can't imagine how hard this must have been for some people but serious props to them for being so keen to get back into it. Those poor actors deserve a break! I can't imagine working on a show like that, they must kill themselves to get that much out year-round.
Link 3:
Animators never get a break! Slave away you nameless fools. Warner Bros. and I assume other animation companies have found a way to have their workers maintain their status as workers by working during the quarantine. Essential? Apparently so. The production for their upcoming Tom and Jerry movie has not been affected by the Corona - which is a big deal. What's not a big deal is that they are remaking Tom and Jerry.
Link 4:
Cinema owners are suffering! Corona means they are not only closed for far too long, not even being able to open even during Lockdown Level 3, but a lot of the movies they were banking on have either been delayed or released digitally - e.g Pixar's new film Onward, being released digitally instead, and the new 007 and other such blockbuster being PUSHED BACK!
It is a very bad time to be a theater owner and we see how the moves the big companies have to make due to corona is directly affecting the small man too. Big industry might not be fucked, but small man might be.
Link 5:
Here they discuss how productions are gonna get back into it after Corona and keep safe, as a lot of film productions have been delayed.
